Best First Mods for the S550 Mustang

Building a 2015–2023 Mustang GT? Here's the order that gives you the most fun-per-dollar without wasting money — and what's worth professional installation and a tune.

A Sensible S550 Build Order

  1. Tires & suspension — the cheapest real performance. Sticky tires, then springs/coilovers and sway bars transform how the car drives.
  2. Cat-back exhaust — sound and a little weight savings.
  3. Cold air intake + tune — modest power, do them together.
  4. Brakes — pads and fluid before you go faster.
  5. Power adders (supercharger) — when you're ready to commit, with supporting fuel and cooling.

We install and tune all of the above in-house. Browse parts in the online store or book a local installation.

FAQs

What's the best first mod for an S550 GT?

For most owners it's a cat-back exhaust (sound) plus a tune — but the highest-value performance gain is usually suspension and sticky tires if you actually drive it hard.

Do I need a tune for bolt-ons?

A cold air intake or aftermarket parts that change airflow generally benefit from (and sometimes require) a custom tune to run safely and make the most of the change.
